Donna Turner

Donna Turner will be our formation team leader. A catechist since 1994, she has experience working with children in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in Level I, Level II, and Level III. Donna has been a Level III catechist for 24 years at St. Philip Episcopal Church in Memphis, TN. She has been a Formation Leader since 2001. Donna is the Co-Director of the Good Shepherd Center in Memphis, TN. She serves CGSUSA as a member of the Formation Committee and Episcopal Committee and assists with the Level III Materials Manual. Donna and her husband, Bob, live in Germantown, TN.

Course Requirements

To receive a certificate as a nationally-recognized CGS catechist in the Level III atrium, participants will be expected to:

  • Attend at least 80% of the 128 hours

  • Read the required texts

  • Participate in writing catechist album pages.

Required books: 

  • Religious Potential of the Child 6 to 12 Years Old - 2nd Edition by Sofia Cavalletti

  • History of the Kingdom of God, Part 1: From Creation to Parousia by Sofia Cavalletti

  • History of the Kingdom of God, Part 2: Liturgy and the Building of the Kingdom of God by Sofia Cavalletti

  • Life in the Vine by Rebekah Rojcewicz

Course Objectives

  • To explore with participants the general developmental and religious characteristics of the 9-12 year old child.

  • To facilitate meditation upon the biblical and liturgical themes of the Catechesis.

  • To offer guidelines and assistance to catechists in setting up an atrium for 9-12 year olds, preparing an

  • album, and making materials.

  • To deepen participants’ ability to observe and learn from children, while also exploring avenues for

  • deepening parental and congregational ability to observe and learn from children.
